Pak paid $2.1 million in ransom to Somali pirates

The 22 captives have been released after the pirates were paid $2.1 million in ransom, which was collected in collaboration by the Ansar Burney Welfare Trust (ABWT), the Sindh government and the shipping company that owned the hijacked ship.
“Ransom money was dropped from an aeroplane at Punt Land in Somalia, which the pirates’ sources had specified.
The pirates started freeing hostages at 5pm GMT (10pm PST),” ABWT chairperson Ansar Burney said.

3Gojra became famous in Pakistan after contributing a number of players to the Pakistan Hockey team, including Iqbal Bali and Muhammad Aslam (famous as Aslam Roda).When they returned to Gojra they established their own hockey teams, and provided free training to the youth of the village. The biggest event in the calendar it used to be the annual fixture between these two teams. This match use to attract a huge crowd. Afridi fined 4.5 million rupees (£62,000) by the PCB

The former Pakistan captain pleaded responsible to a charge of violating the board’s code of conduct.
Afridi held a meeting with the PCB on Tuesday and then withdrew a petition he filed against the board in the Sindh High Court on Wednesday, opening the way for his NOC to be reinstated.
His agent Umran Khan had told BBC Radio Solent he was sure that Afridi, who was also poised to play Twenty20 cricket for Hampshire last summer but opted to lead Pakistan in the Test series against Australia instead, would soon be turning out in the county’s colours. An defenceless Teenager Killed by so called Rangers
0An defenceless teenager, Sarfraz was killed in firing of rangers’ officials in Boat Basin area of the city on Wednesday night. According to the sources, the boy was cruelly shot dead before he was detained by the rangers in the Benazir Bhutto Park. Rangers spoke the media that Sarfraz was concerned in a Dacoity and killed in meet. In contrast, the heirs of deceased staged a sit-in protest before Chief Minister House, saying the boy was blameless and went to the park for day out. The extra judicial killing of the boy has been fated by several political leaders, human rights, journalists, civil society members of the city. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik regimented action against the rangers’ personnel involved in the killing. The Sindh information minister, Sharjeel Memon has assumed that no mercy will be given away to the culprits.
