CNA – Duties and Responsibilities
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) can work in sundry places like nursing facilities, old age homes, house of patients and hospitals therefore having a varied sort of responsibilities varying from places to place. But the key purpose of a CNA is to master the diverse functions of day to day life.
All medical subordinates are primarily liable for caring and monitoring the patient whether they are CNA’s or nursing aides or nursing assistant. Being a CNA, you are the only one responsible for assisting the patients in their day to day activities like walking, eating, bathing and dressing. You also have to record the oral additives and discharges and imperative signs as well. An emotional and social support is also expected from CNA’s along with a daily reporting to their senior nurse on duty about all the recorded information round the clock.
While working in old age homes or nursing facilities a CNA has to become familiar with the aged and the disabled and have to give a tenderly care to all of them as they expect you to be the prime caring persons. But while working in a hospital, a CNA is involved in every aspect related to the patient from their daily activities to fetching them between the sections of the hospitals and monitoring their momentary conditions.
A cna duties should be a very keen observer and should be capable of communicating to people and patients in a well mannered way and behave calmly even in worst and emergency conditions. He should be capable of moving and responding accordingly to patients in emergency conditions.
No experience is required to become a CNA because of the on job training. You just need to have a GED or a high school diploma, pursue state approved 75 hour training and clear the CNA state exam as per the state norms.
Being a CNA is not an easy task to be availed. It is an easy task to get a CNA Certificate but hard to bear the responsibilities of the designation. Being a CNA one has to work 40 hours a week comprising of weekends and holidays. As such nursing is a challenging arena there are many rotational sequences but with experience and expertise, one gets acquainted with the fact that the job of a CNA is really a gratifying job and gives a great satisfaction.
A great deal of responsibility is being carried by a CNA but at the same time lets you come across the most gratifying designation one can obtain in whole life span. Being a CNA you always remain in excessive demand, remain professional receiving a good remuneration for your services and proficiency and when all’s said and done you make a difference in other’s life by helping them in every possible manner.
